Team USA's King Of The Court Is Some Of The Best Content On The Internet
Little known fact about me, I love King Of The Court videos. Always have, always will. I’m not just saying this because the video we got yesterday out of Vegas included my two prized Celtics, these type of videos are awesome no matter who’s in them. Like a few years ago when we got KD/Harden/PG13
then a few years later when it was KD/Devin Booker/Oladipo/etc
I honestly can’t get enough of them. Not only are they extremely fun to watch but they really give you a good look at just how impossible it is to stop some of the best scorers on the planet. It’s not exactly breaking news that NBA players, ones that are selected to Team USA especially, are good at basketball but as someone who believes 1-on-1 should find its way to NBA All Star Weekend, these videos just do it for me.
Which brings me to our most recent example.
OK, I may have lied a little bit, I especially like this video because of what we see from Tatum/Brown. How could I be a living breathing human and not? Is it me or does Tatum look bigger with an expanded arsenal or is that just the Kool Aid talking? How about that Jaylen crossover at 1:32, you’re lying to yourself if you are a Celtics fan and that didn’t get your blood pumping. We all know his handle is a big time achilles heel and if we’re in the trust tree we can admit it’s comically bad. If that is something that proves to be better this year then he’s going to have quite a season in a contract year.
But if we’re being honest, I think I was most surprised by what I saw from Bam. Someone who you mostly know for his rebounding and insane leaping/dunking, there appears to be some actual legit offensive skill there. As a Heat fan that would have me pretty pumped for a Year 3 leap. We saw good progression from Bam last year where he saw his minutes bump up to 23 a game, and at just 22 years old the Heat may really have something there if his offensive game is going to be this polished.
The good news is yesterday was just Day 1 of camp so chances are we’re going to be blessed with a shit ton of these videos leading up to when the World Cup actually starts. I’d like to see some that have guys like Kemba, Turner, Kuzma, and Mitchell in them as well which I’m sure will happen at some point. Can’t stress it enough, feed me all the King Of The Court videos until my eyes bleed.
P.S.
We can’t be talking about Team USA post practice 1-on-1s without reliving the GOAT Kevin Garnett and his full court 1-on-1 performance. What a goddamn monster
